do an Internet search on "hiring freelance writer" or something like that, and you will find millions of links to job boards, freelance writer, website, bulletin boards and all sorts of other path leads you to a variety of sources. You'll find freelance writers, there's no doubt about it, but what kind of writer are they? Are they fluent in English (American English is very different from British English), doing the work themselves or outsource it? Do they charge per piece or per word? What is their turnaround time? How to handle an audit?

Most people and companies that hire freelance writers have learned this lesson the hard way. So, in an effort to save some money and time, I'll give you some pointers!

* When you contact a freelance writer for the first time, or post a project on a job board, give details of what you are looking for! One writer might be great at SEO and keyword content, but if you want more opinions and humor writer, this work may not be ideal for you! If you provide details (subject, keyword, length) in advance, the writer will be able to assess your needs and quote you the price accordingly. I turn down projects on a regular basis - not because I like turning down the money, but because if the topic completely alien to me, or one you think will be better written by experts in this field, I'll tell you. I would rather refer you to another writer to be remembered as a writer who was a professional and want to return to work various projects in the future, then the project and horrible job, earn a bad reputation and have a dissatisfied customer!

* How do you intend to pay a freelance writer? I, along with most freelancers, prefer Paypal. Many established, reputable writers will require a deposit. Do not let this scare. My deposit is as low as $ 5 and as high as $ 2000. I've probably collected a deposit, if I worked with you in the past, if a large project or if not that we pay for previous job (in which case the total amount is due in advance). If you are a company that pays only for verification, make sure you give the data to contact the writer you choose to rent.

* If paying by word or deed? It depends on the individual writer. I do both, depending on the client and my mood. Most of my work, however, is the word - and I charge between 10 cents and 30 cents per word. It is not uncommon for quality freelance writer who is experienced, knowledgeable and takes pride in his work. If you have a budget, give a word limit (which will be anyway, otherwise you'll end up with either the thesis or five-sentence article!)

* Why would you pay $ 50 for an article, when you can buy one for $ 1.50? Once you have purchased a $ 1.50 paper, you will have your answer. Very often, super low rates are a sign of overseas outsourcing (which means that the article will sound as if its been written by a foreigner and grammar, and perhaps technically correct, he feels "weird") or it is a new freelance writer who has no idea what they work. I can say that because I was there. Want a writer who knows what they are doing, knows how to provide superior customer service and meet the deadline, and he knows how to write clearly.

* Ask about revisions! Many writers charge a fee for any changes that you request. I do not, unless you want a brand new piece written. But if you want to make changes that are relatively simple and not going to be all day, they have included in my price.

* RIGHTS! Unless you explicitly specify in the contract that you as the customer retains all copyrights to the article, the writer is allowed to sell the job to someone else. If it is important to you, make sure you specify the rights privileges in the contract!
